TODAY'S 15 · WHAT DALAL STREET IS TALKING ABOUT – 11 MARCH 2026
|
▲ BULLISH / POSITIVE |
▼ BEARISH / CONCERN |
● WATCH / NEUTRAL |
|
01 MARKETS |
Sensex crashed 1,352 pts to close at 76,853 and Nifty fell 378 pts to 23,883 — Tuesday's entire relief rally wiped out in one session as US-Iran war escalated again with ships attacked near Iran's coast. |
▼ BEARISH |
|
02 SHIPPING |
Three cargo ships struck by projectiles near Iran's coast — one caught fire and crew evacuated; Strait of Hormuz supply disruption fears surged, sending Brent crude from $86 to $91.45 intraday in a single session. |
▼ BEARISH |
|
03 CRUDE OIL |
Brent crude swung wildly — fell 1.72% to $86.29 at open, then surged 4.13% to $91.45 by 2:44 PM IST as Hormuz fear resurfaced; a 6%+ intraday swing that rattled every import-sensitive sector simultaneously. |
● WATCH |
|
04 AUTO SECTOR |
Nifty Auto was the session's worst sectoral index with a 3%+ fall — every rupee rise in crude oil directly raises input and fuel costs; the sector that led Tuesday's rally was Wednesday's biggest casualty. |
▼ BEARISH |
|
05 BANKING |
Bank Nifty collapsed toward 54,300–55,000, breaching the critical 55,500 support flagged by Bajaj Broking — Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Axis Bank were among the session's biggest losers. |
▼ BEARISH |
|
06 AC STOCKS |
Air conditioner stocks were the session's standout winners — Blue Star and PG Electroplast surged up to 6% on IMD reports of above-normal heatwave days expected between March and May 2026. |
▲ BULLISH |
|
07 RELIANCE |
Trump announced a $230 billion (₹27.5 lakh crore) US-India deal — with Mukesh Ambani to build America's largest oil refinery; yet Reliance shares fell today as crude price volatility dominated sentiment over the deal news. |
● WATCH |
|
08 JIO FINANCIAL |
Motilal Oswal initiated Jio Financial Services with BUY and ₹320 target price — implying 38% upside — citing Jio's 500 million subscriber base as a near-zero-cost distribution moat for financial products; the stock bucked the market decline. |
▲ BULLISH |
|
09 INDIGO CEO |
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers resigned with immediate effect citing personal reasons — the exit comes three months after the airline's catastrophic operational crisis that stranded 3 lakh passengers; MD Rahul Bhatia takes interim charge. |
▼ BEARISH |
|
10 CARLYLE / AIRTEL |
Carlyle Group is reportedly in advanced talks to sell its 24% stake in Airtel's data centre arm Nxtra — a significant PE exit that could value Nxtra at ₹10,000+ crore and signals consolidation in India's data infrastructure space. |
● WATCH |
|
11 PHARMA / API |
India's pharma API supply chain is under threat — up to 40% of active pharmaceutical ingredients are sourced through Middle East supply routes; prolonged Hormuz disruption could push medicine prices up 15–40%. |
▼ BEARISH |
|
12 GOLD |
Gold hit ₹2,90,000 per kg (Silver: ₹2,90,000/kg also firming) — safe-haven buying is intense as geopolitical panic continues; Gold is up 1% on MCX today while equity markets bleed, reinforcing the flight-to-safety trade. |
● WATCH |
|
13 JP MORGAN / MAX |
JP Morgan initiated coverage on Max Financial Services with an Overweight rating and a ₹2,170 target — a bullish institutional call on insurance sector fundamentals that cuts through today's broader market noise. |
▲ BULLISH |
|
14 BRIGADE ENT |
Brigade Enterprises expanded into industrial realty with a 25-acre development in Bengaluru — India's industrial and logistics real estate story continues irrespective of geopolitical headlines; another sign that capex cycle is intact. |
▲ BULLISH |
|
15 FII DII FLOWS |
FII sold ₹4,672.64 Cr and DII bought ₹6,333.26 Cr on 10 March (latest confirmed data) — DII absorption continues to outpace FII selling, providing the structural floor that has prevented a deeper market collapse. |
● WATCH |
RUPIE SPEAK VERDICT · 11 MARCH 2026
|
"Tuesday was the relief. Wednesday is the reality check." The war came back. Three ships were hit near Iran's coast. Crude swung 6% intraday. The Nifty fell 378 points, erasing Tuesday's entire 233-point gain and more. Bank Nifty broke below the 55,500 support that analysts said was critical to hold. The two bright spots: AC stocks on heatwave forecasts, and Jio Financial on a Motilal Oswal BUY call. Everything else sold off. The DII floor held again — ₹6,333 crore of domestic buying absorbed ₹4,672 crore of FII selling on Tuesday. That floor is the only thing standing between here and a deeper correction. |
|
WATCH TOMORROW · 12 MARCH › Iran ceasefire — any signal = instant market reversal › Nifty 23,700–23,800 — Monday's panic low is the floor › Crude below $88 = macro relief returns › India Feb CPI data (Thursday) — Jan was 2.75% vs 2.4% est › FII flow data for today's session (post-market release) |
KEY RISKS › Nifty closes below 23,700 → 23,200–23,300 next target › Crude above $95–100 = round 3 of geopolitical panic › Iran Foreign Minister: "Talks with US no longer on agenda" › Bank Nifty below 54,300 = further forced selling › Rupee below ₹92.5 = OMC losses + inflation spiral |
