📌 STORY 01 · EARLY GAINS FADE, MARKETS END MIXED AS GEOPOLITICS WEIGHS
🔻 Wednesday's Session: Nifty closes below 23,250; Sensex marginally higher
The Nifty 50 climbed to an intraday high of 23,425.35 — up nearly 150 points — but failed to hold gains and slipped into negative territory by the close, settling at 23,214.95, down 27.15 points or 0.12%. The Sensex, however, managed marginal gains, ending 64.42 points higher (+0.09%) at 73,983.18.
🔵 Key Driver: Markets opened positively after Reliance Industries gained following Meta Platforms' announcement of its first AI-enabled data centre partnership in India. However, escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East — with the US carrying out strikes in Iran after Iran claimed it had downed an American helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz — triggered profit-booking and volatility. Renewed concerns over energy security and inflation dampened investor sentiment, erasing early gains.
✅ Broader markets: Mixed performance with select banking stocks showing resilience following RBI's recent measures to boost foreign currency inflows.

🛢️ STORY 02 · OIL CRASHES 3% AS GEOPOLITICAL RISK PREMIUM RECEDES
Brent crude futures declined sharply by $2.80, or 3%, to settle at $91.45 a barrel on Tuesday — the lowest closing level since April 17. The sharp drop came as concerns over supply disruptions eased after Iran and Israel announced a halt to their exchange of attacks in response to an appeal by US President Donald Trump. However, fresh tensions on Wednesday (US strikes in Iran) kept markets on edge, with crude rebounding slightly.
⚠️ Oil outlook: Any further escalation could spike crude again, while de-escalation would keep prices under pressure.

🇮🇳 STORY 03 · RUPEE WEAKENS 19 PAISE TO 95.54 ON GEOPOLITICAL TENSIONS
The rupee opened 19 paise weaker at 95.54 against the US dollar on Wednesday as escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East pushed crude oil prices higher, while continued foreign fund outflows weighed on investor sentiment. The domestic currency touched 95.56 in early trade, registering a fall of 19 paise from its previous close of 95.35.
The rupee had recovered momentum on Tuesday to settle higher by around 28 paise at ₹95.31, supported by retreating international oil prices and a small pullback in the dollar overseas.

📌 BOTTOM LINE · WEDNESDAY, 10 JUNE 2026 — "GEOPOLITICS OVERSHADOWS RIL-META BOOST"
Markets opened sharply higher, with the Nifty climbing nearly 150 points, driven by the landmark Reliance-Meta AI data centre partnership. However, escalating US-Iran tensions — with the US carrying out strikes in Iran after a helicopter was downed near the Strait of Hormuz — triggered sharp profit-booking, erasing most gains. The Nifty ended in the red, while the Sensex managed marginal gains.
✅ Positives: Bank Nifty showed remarkable resilience, surging 2.1% to close above 55,000 for the first time in two weeks, following the RBI's strategic measures to boost foreign currency inflows through concessional swap facilities. This triggered massive short covering across banking counters. DIIs continued aggressive buying, absorbing ₹6,159 crore of FII selling. The RIL-Meta partnership signals India's emergence as a global AI infrastructure hub.
⚠️ Negatives: Geopolitical tensions in West Asia escalated sharply, with US-Iran military confrontation threatening regional stability and energy security. FII selling remains persistent — over ₹4,500 crore on Tuesday alone, with total June outflows exceeding ₹41,000 crore. The rupee weakened on geopolitical concerns.
🎯 What's next: The Nifty closed Wednesday at 23,214.95. Immediate support stands at 23,150, with a break below potentially inviting selling toward 23,000-22,900. Resistance is placed at 23,450-23,550. Banking stocks are likely to remain in focus following the RBI's supportive measures. Watch geopolitical headlines closely.
