The rupee weakened 3 paise to close at 94.57 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, weighed down by importer demand, a strong dollar index, and muted foreign inflows .
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 94.57 and touched an intraday low of 94.61 amid sustained dollar demand from importers . However, a decline in crude oil prices to around $72.50 per barrel and easing geopolitical concerns capped the downside for the rupee .
Traders said the rupee continues to face resistance near the 94.00–94.20 zone, a level it has struggled to breach in recent sessions . The dollar index edged higher to 101.26 amid expectations that the US Federal Reserve could maintain a hawkish stance on interest rates .
