📌 STORY 01 · OIL SPIKE, GEOPOLITICAL TENSIONS TRIGGER SHARP SELLOFF
🔻 Tuesday's Session: Nifty snaps 3-day winning streak; Sensex plunges 561 points
Indian equity benchmarks snapped their three-day winning streak on Tuesday, with the Nifty falling below the 24,100 mark and the Sensex plunging over 561 points, as escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and a sharp surge in crude oil prices triggered broad-based selling across sectors .

The Nifty 50 settled at 24,052.05, falling 158.95 points, or 0.66%, while the Sensex declined 561.46 points, or 0.72%, to close at 77,054.94 .

Investors lost nearly ₹3.02 lakh crore as the market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies fell from ₹4,82,41,292 crore to ₹4,79,39,416 crore . The markets opened sharply lower amid fresh US-Iran strikes and remained under pressure throughout the session. The Nifty touched an intraday low of 23,995 before recovering slightly towards the close .

🔵 Key Driver: President Trump proclaimed the United States the "guardian of the Strait of Hormuz" and reinstated the blockade on Iranian shipping, demanding a 20 percent reimbursement on cargo transiting the waterway . Brent crude surged nearly 4.5% to around $87 per barrel, raising concerns over imported inflation, pressure on the rupee, and the possibility of higher interest rates .

✅ Selective strength: Pharma and metal stocks bucked the trend, with the Nifty Pharma index gaining 1.02% and the Nifty Metal index rising 0.60% . Bharti Airtel, Apollo Hospitals, Sun Pharma, Cipla, and Dr Reddy's Laboratories were among the top gainers .
📉 STORY 02 · REALTY, PSU BANK, AUTO LEAD DECLINE
The Nifty Realty index emerged as the biggest loser, falling 2.13%, followed by Nifty PSU Bank which declined 1.87%, and Nifty Auto which fell 1.64% .

Nifty Bank dropped 1.15% (or 669 points) to 57,462.30, while Nifty IT declined 1.0% . Financial stocks bore the brunt of the selling, with the Nifty Financial Services index falling 1.16% .

⚠️ Outlook: The market remains highly sensitive to geopolitical developments and crude oil prices. Banking and realty sectors are likely to remain under pressure if crude continues to spike .
🇮🇳 STORY 03 · RUPEE SLUMPS TO 96.20 ON OIL SPIKE, DOLLAR STRENGTH
The rupee weakened sharply by 58 paise to close at 96.20 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, pressured by higher oil prices amid renewed hostilities in the Middle East .

The partially convertible rupee touched a low of 96.2375 per dollar, its weakest level since May 22, before ending the session at 96.20 . A strong dollar index and importer demand continued to weigh on the currency .

Traders flagged likely dollar sales by the Reserve Bank of India across the spot and non-deliverable forward markets, helping contain the rupee's losses . Brent crude surged over 4% to $87 per barrel after the US reimposed a naval blockade on Iran .
