📌 STORY 01 · OIL CRASH, PEACE HOPES EXTEND GAINS
🔻 Thursday's Session: Nifty holds 24,000; Sensex gains 109 points
Indian equity benchmarks extended gains for the second consecutive session on Thursday, with the Nifty holding above the 24,000 mark and the Sensex advancing over 109 points, as a sharp decline in crude oil prices to pre-war levels and easing geopolitical tensions boosted investor sentiment .

The Nifty 50 settled at 24,056.00, gaining 34.35 points, or 0.14%, while the Sensex advanced 109.25 points, or 0.14%, to close at 77,100.47 .

The markets opened with a strong gap-up, with the Sensex surging over 811 points to hit an intraday high of 77,803.18 and the Nifty touching 24,261.60 in early trade . However, profit booking in the second half erased most of the gains, with the Sensex giving up nearly 700 points from the day's high as selling pressure emerged in banks, IT, and metal stocks .

🔵 Key Driver: Brent crude fell to around $72.75 per barrel, its pre-war level, as more tankers resumed passage through the Strait of Hormuz following progress in US-Iran peace talks . Lower oil prices eased inflation concerns and supported the rupee .

✅ Selective strength: Auto stocks outperformed, driven by softer metal prices and improving retail demand, with the Nifty Auto index gaining 2.25% . FMCG and realty shares also advanced .
🛢️ STORY 02 · OIL CRASHES TO $72.75, PRE-WAR LEVEL
Brent crude futures extended their decline, falling 1.34% to around $72.75 a barrel on Thursday, reaching its pre-war level as improving supply conditions and optimism over a potential US-Iran peace agreement continued to weigh on the market .

The retreat comes as traders increasingly unwind the geopolitical risk premium that had driven oil prices sharply higher earlier in the year . More tankers have resumed passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil supply .

⚠️ Oil outlook: Lower oil prices are positive for India, the world's third-largest oil importer, as they help ease pressure on inflation and the country's trade deficit .
🇮🇳 STORY 03 · RUPEE STRENGTHENS TO 94.40 ON OIL DROP
The rupee strengthened 15 paise to close at 94.40 (provisional) against the US dollar on Thursday, supported by a sharp decline in crude oil prices and positive global cues .

The partially convertible rupee was hovering at 94.40 compared with its previous close of 94.55 . A weaker dollar index and easing geopolitical tensions also supported the rupee .

However, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹1,843 crore on Wednesday, which continued to weigh on the currency .
