📌 STORY 01 · OIL NEARS $100, MARKETS EXTEND LOSING STREAK TO 4TH DAY
🔻 Thursday's Session: Indian equity benchmarks ended lower for the fourth consecutive session as Brent crude surged above $96 a barrel, nearing the $100 mark, following fresh attacks on oil tankers in the Red Sea and continued US-Iran hostilities.
The Nifty 50 fell 126.65 points (0.53%) to settle at 23,869.60, while the Sensex declined 363.66 points (0.47%) to close at 76,391.39. The index slipped further below the 24,000 mark, with bears continuing to hold the upper hand.
🔵 Key Drivers: The sell-off was triggered by a fresh surge in crude oil prices after Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi group claimed responsibility for targeting two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, opening a new front in the regional conflict. Additionally, weak global cues and continued FII selling weighed on sentiment. Foreign portfolio investors offloaded shares worth ₹819 crore on Wednesday.
