📌 STORY 01 · US-IRAN PEACE DEAL SIGNED, MARKETS RALLY FOR SECOND DAY
🔻 Monday's Session: Nifty closes above 23,850; Sensex jumps 736 points
Indian equity benchmarks continued their winning streak for the second consecutive session, with the Nifty closing above 23,850 and the Sensex surging over 736 points, as the United States and Iran finalized a deal to end their 107-day war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The Nifty 50 settled at 23,853.90, gaining 231.00 points, or 0.98%, while the Sensex advanced 736.38 points, or 0.97%, to close at 76,264.33.

The markets opened with a strong gap-up, with the Sensex surging over 1,293 points intraday to touch a high of 76,821.07, while the Nifty hit an intraday high of 24,011.40 during early trade. Buying momentum remained strong throughout the session, though some profit-booking towards the close pared the day's gains.

🔵 Key Driver: President Trump announced that the US and Iran had reached an agreement to end the 107-day conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with the formal signing scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland. The deal sent crude oil prices tumbling below $84 a barrel, easing concerns over inflation and India's trade deficit.

✅ Broad-based rally: All sectoral indices ended in the green. The broader market outperformed frontline indices, with Nifty Smallcap 100 gaining 1.62% and Nifty Midcap 100 rising 1.43%. The market breadth was strong, with 3,089 shares advancing against 1,322 declines on the BSE.
🛢️ STORY 02 · OIL CRASHES 4.5% TO $83.36 AS US-IRAN PEACE DEAL CONFIRMED
Brent crude futures extended their sharp decline, falling 4.55% to around $83.36 a barrel on Monday after the US and Iran confirmed they had reached a peace agreement. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped to around $79.90 per barrel, falling below the $80 mark for the first time in months.

The US-Iran peace deal, which will reopen the crucial Strait of Hormuz to shipping, removes a major geopolitical risk premium that had kept oil prices elevated for nearly four months. "Lower crude oil prices are a positive for India, the world's third-largest oil importer, as they help ease pressure on inflation, the rupee and the country's trade deficit," analysts noted.

⚠️ Oil outlook: While prices have corrected sharply, analysts caution that the implementation of the peace deal remains key. The formal signing is scheduled for June 19, and any setbacks could trigger a reversal.
🇮🇳 STORY 03 · RUPEE STRENGTHENS FURTHER ON OIL DROP, PEACE HOPES
The rupee staged a further recovery, strengthening 48 paise to close at around 94.60 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday, as global oil prices continued to fall and risk sentiment improved following the US-Iran peace deal.

A firm trend in domestic equity markets, a weaker US dollar, and easing geopolitical tensions supported the rupee during the day. The currency opened stronger and remained in positive territory throughout the session, touching an intraday high of around 94.50.

"With the dawn of peace in West Asia, hopefully, and the consequent sharp correction in Brent crude to below $84, the prospects for the Indian economy and stock market have turned for the better," said VK Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Investments.

📌 BOTTOM LINE · MONDAY, 15 JUNE 2026 — "PEACE DIVIDEND POWERS RALLY"
Indian equity benchmarks rallied for the second consecutive session, with the Nifty closing above 23,850 and the Sensex surging over 736 points, as the US and Iran finalized a peace deal to end their 107-day war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

✅ Positives: Broad-based rally across all sectors. Nifty Realty was the top gainer, rising 2.8%. The broader market outperformed, with Smallcap and Midcap indices gaining over 1.4% each. The India VIX declined further, indicating reduced fear. The rupee strengthened to around 94.60 on falling oil prices. Market breadth was strong, with over 3,000 advances against 1,322 declines.

⚠️ Negatives: The Nifty touched an intraday high of 24,011 but pared gains to close below 23,900 due to profit-booking. Pharma and Healthcare sectors were the only ones to close in the red. FII selling, though reduced, remains persistent. The formal signing of the peace deal is scheduled for June 19, and any setbacks could trigger a reversal.

🎯 What's next: The Nifty closed Monday at 23,853.90. Immediate support stands at 23,700, with resistance at 24,000. All eyes are on the US Fed policy meeting (June 16-17) for rate path cues and the formal signing of the US-Iran peace deal on June 19. The sharp correction in crude oil prices below $84 is a significant positive for India's macroeconomic stability.
