📌 STORY 01 · TRUMP CALLS OFF IRAN STRIKES, MARKETS RALLY 2%
🔻 Friday's Session: Nifty reclaims 23,600; Sensex jumps 1,695 points
Indian equity benchmarks rallied sharply on Friday, recording their strongest single-day gains in nearly two months, as hopes of a diplomatic breakthrough between the United States and Iran improved global risk sentiment and triggered a sharp fall in crude oil prices.
The Nifty 50 settled at 23,622.90, gaining 461.30 points, or 1.99%, while the Sensex advanced 1,694.63 points, or 2.30%, to close at 75,527.18.
The markets opened with a gap-up of more than 250 points. Buying momentum strengthened during the afternoon session, triggering a sharp rally across all sectors. The Nifty 50 comfortably crossed the 23,600 mark, registering its best performance since April 8, 2026.
🔵 Key Driver: US President Donald Trump called off planned strikes on Iran, saying discussions with Iran had progressed and a peace deal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping could be signed as soon as this weekend. This eased fears of a major escalation in the Middle East conflict that had gripped markets earlier in the week.
✅ Broad-based rally: All sectoral indices ended in the green. The Nifty Bank rallied 2.97%, recording its biggest gain in the last two months. Nifty PSU Bank index rose over 2%.

🛢️ STORY 02 · OIL CRASHES 4% AS TRUMP INDICATES PEACE DEAL WITH IRAN
Brent crude futures extended losses, falling 4.25% to around $86.54 a barrel on Friday after Trump indicated a peace deal with Iran could be finalized over the weekend. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped to around $85.81 per barrel.
Trump, who had threatened to hit Iran "very hard," called off planned strikes on Thursday, saying discussions with Iran had progressed. This followed days of tit-for-tat attacks earlier in the week, including the downing of a US Apache helicopter and Iran's announcement of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
⚠️ Oil outlook: While prices have corrected sharply, analysts caution that any setback in negotiations could quickly reverse the trend. ING analysts noted: "We would be cautious about assuming that the extension of the ceasefire is a done deal. Even if it is, it could be fragile."
